The design of parks, open spaces and amenity landscapes forms a major part of TBA’s workload. Designs cover the full range of open space types and include both formal and informal designs. Formal spaces include courtyards, urban squares and roof gardens whilst informal spaces include naturalistic landscapes with woodlands, meadows, wetlands and ponds.

The design of many open spaces often also includes aspects of reclamation or the restoration of degraded landscapes, together with habitat creation or enhancement.

Play areas frequently form an important element of open space design and TBA have designed the full range of play area types, from LAPs, LEAPs and NEAPS through to MUGA. Low key naturalesque designs have also been created using land form and natural elements. Increasingly, public art and sculpture has been used to further enhance such areas.
